A non-inflatable chest float for babies from 3 to 24 months. Solid foam inside, so there is no pump, no valve and nothing to blow up before you leave the house — the Shark float comes out of the bag ready for the water.
The fin doubles as the weighted stability tail.
Go by weight first and age second. Babies grow at their own pace, and weight is the reliable guide.
Fasten the harness so it is snug but not tight — you should be able to slide two fingers between the strap and your baby's chest. If your baby is under the weight range, they are not ready for this float yet.
1
On the tummy, from about 6 months. Baby rests on the chest pad with arms over the front, free to paddle and reach.
2
On the back, from about 3 months. Younger babies float on their back with the headrest supporting the head, which suits babies who do not yet have strong head control on their front.
Fit the canopy for outdoor use and take it off for indoor pools. The tail clips on and off the same way.
Does it need inflating?
No. The core is solid foam, so there is no pump, no valve and nothing to blow up. It works straight out of the bag.
Why pay more than a $20–40 inflatable ring?
An inflatable holds air. That means a valve, seams, a pump to carry, and a swim that ends if it goes down. This float has a solid foam core instead, so there is nothing to inflate. It also adds an adjustable harness across the shoulders, chest and crotch, a weighted tail that helps it sit level, and a removable UPF 50+ canopy — none of which a ring has. That is what you are paying the difference for.
Is it an approved life jacket?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is a swimming aid for use with an adult within arm's reach, and it does not protect against drowning. Baby floats of this type are not sold as approved personal flotation devices in Australia. If you need a device rated to save a life, buy a PFD certified to the relevant Australian standard — not a float.
Will my baby tip forward in it?
The weighted tail clips to the back and is there for exactly this — it helps the float sit level rather than nose-down. Fasten every harness strap before the water, and keep a hand near for the first few minutes until you have seen how your baby sits in it.
My baby is 3 months but small for their age — can they use it?
Go by weight, not age. If they are under 6 kg the harness will not hold them securely enough, so wait.
What is the difference between the designs?
The print and the colour. Every chest float in our range shares the same solid foam core, adjustable harness, removable UPF 50+ canopy and weighted tail, and the same 3–24 month, 6–18 kg range. Choose the one your child will be pleased to see.
Can I use it without the canopy?
Yes. The canopy clips off in seconds for indoor pools or cloudy days, and the float works exactly the same without it.
Is it suitable for the beach?
For calm, shallow water with an adult beside your baby, yes. It is not for surf or anywhere with current.
Does salt water or chlorine damage it?
Not if you rinse it. Fresh water after every swim, then dry it flat in the shade. Salt and chlorine left to dry on the fabric are what age it.
How do I clean and store it?
Rinse in fresh water after every swim, especially after salt water or chlorine, and dry flat in the shade. Storing it damp or in direct sun is what shortens its life.
How long does delivery take?
Free delivery across Australia. Dispatched in 1–2 business days, then 5–6 business days, tracked.
What if it does not fit when it arrives?
14-day returns, and a 2-year warranty — both handled here in Australia. Try the harness on dry land first, before any swim, so you can send it back unused if the fit is wrong.
